YOUTH FOR POSITIVE CHANGE
Youth For Positive Change is a student organization that has formed out of MASH, Mothers Against School Hazing, and the Ascension Parish Youth Council. They are using drama to educate about the harmful effects of hazing.
YFPC is currently working on writing, performing, and creating stage props for skits that will depict what hazing does to students, the hazers, the schools, and the families of those involved. The skits will be performed at schools, churches and other organizations for various age groups (ranging from primary, elementary through high school).
The group is also involved in volunteer service efforts like fixing up homes for those in need, landscaping for local organizations, and refurbishing a basketball court for a community center. No job is too dirty for this group! The youth involved in this group are hoping that their ideas will trickle throughout our nation, and that all communities will join in their efforts to create this Positive Change. According to their advisor, "these students are true role models and future leaders of our nation!"
